As you go through labour and birth, having judgement-free support can empower you to have the best birth experience possible. During your pregnancy, we will use evidence-based research to identify your preferences for the birth, and explore the options available to you.
During labour, I will work with your care team and your chosen support team, to help guide you through the labour and birth. Support during this time may include:
- Suggestions for non-pharmacological pain relief
- Guiding you through breathing and relaxation techniques
- Providing continual reassurance and affirmations
- Facilitating communication between you and your care team
- Providing assistance immediately postpartum, including helping establish breastfeeding
During your few weeks postpartum, we will meet again to see how you are adjusting to life with a newborn. This meeting may include:
- Advice on newborn sleep and/or feeding
- Education about baby-wearing
- Education on postpartum recovery and healing
- Assistance with newborn care
Labour & birth support is available both virtually, and in-person. In-person support is available in Burnaby, New Westminster, Coquitlam, Metro Vancouver and surrounding areas.
